Privacy policy

Note: This text describes what the app actually does. It is not legal advice — please have it reviewed before publishing to the app stores.

2. What this is about

InkDiet processes photos of documents: it removes the grey background, corrects the perspective and turns the result into images or PDF files. This policy explains what data is involved.

3. Your scans and documents

Your photos and the files created from them never leave your device. All image processing — edge detection, perspective correction, filtering, PDF generation — runs locally on your phone. There is no server that images are sent to and no cloud storage on our side.

Saved results live in the app's private storage area on your device. They are gone when you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Only when you choose "Share" or "Print" yourself do you hand a file to another app or a printer — what happens there is governed by their terms.

Permissions

4. Settings on your device

The app stores your preferences locally (chosen filter, paper size, resolution, the ink cost you entered) along with a count of cleaned documents and their average saving. This data exists only to display it in the app, never leaves the device and contains no image content.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is ad supported. After you finish a document a full-screen ad may appear, at most once every ten minutes. This uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google processes, among other things, your device's advertising ID, IP address, device type and coarse location in order to serve and account for ads. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy and business.safety.google/privacy.

Your consent

On first launch the app asks for your decision through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG. Without consent you will see either no ads or non-personalised ads only. You can change your decision at any time through the consent form in the app.

On iOS the app additionally asks via Apple's App Tracking Transparency whether cross-app tracking is allowed. If you decline, the app does not use the advertising identifier.

6. No accounts, no analytics

There is no sign-up and no user account. We use no analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics, and we build no usage profiles.

7. This website

This site is served by Firebase Hosting (Google Ireland Limited). When you open it, the provider processes technically necessary server log data such as IP address, timestamp and the file requested. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — operating the site securely and reliably. The site sets no cookies and loads no external fonts or scripts.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Because we hold no personal data about you ourselves, requests for access or erasure regarding advertising data should be directed to Google.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children and is not designed for use by children within the meaning of the relevant programmes (for example Google Play "Families").

10. Changes

If the app changes, this policy will be updated. The version published here with the date shown above is the one that applies.
